Abstract

The notebook documents the ornithological field work of D. B. Burrows, January 27, 1900 - June 24, 1910. The volume is organized by collecting trip or season, which corresponds with the index inside the front cover. Sections document collecting in vicinity of Nueces county, Texas, 1900; Marshall county, Illinois, 1901 - 1906; Sutton county, Texas 1907; southern Texas, 1908; Coryell county, Texas, 1909; and Texas, 1910. Entries are narrative in style and detail type of specimen (scientific name), identification number, locality (sometimes with landmarks), description of eggs, nest composition and location, observed bird behavior, terrain and vegetation, and remarks.
