Abstract

The notebook documents the ornithological field work of D. B. Burrows, February 23, 1895 - June 25, 1897. The volume is organized by collecting trip or season, which corresponds with the index inside the front cover. Entries are headed with location and date. Content varies; some is narrative structure, other entries are lists of specimen information. Entries often include details such as type of specimen (scientific name), sometimes identification number, measurements, locality (with landmarks), description of eggs, nest composition, terrain and habitat, observed bird behavior, and method of specimen preparation.
