Abstract

The annotated lists document specimens received from the US Exploring Expedition, 1838 - 1842. The specimens include birds, plants, shells, coral, and ethnological specimens. Information includes specimen number, species, location (latitude and longitude positions or geographical location), sex, sometimes measurements, collector, and date collected. The lists are sometimes arranged by ship. Remarks are included about condition of wrapping and specimen upon arrival. Locations include locations in South America and Pacific Ocean.
