Abstract

The field book documents the work of Charles L. Gazin in Idaho, May 18 - August 22, 1934. Entries are dated and are narrative in style. They detail travel (mode of transportation, times, destinations, accommodations, location of campsites), daily activities, visits to museum collections enroute, interactions with colleagues. Field work was completed at quarries possibly in the vicinity of Bliss, Idaho and, but not limited to, the vicinity of Grandview. Entries about field work describe terrain, geological characteristics, daily activities with colleagues (G. F. Steinberg and G. B. Pearce), supplies, terrain of area, work completed, specimens found (type, quantity, description), specimens found by other collectors including amateurs, and notes on pictures taken (number and caption).
