Abstract

The field book documents Devra Kleiman's study of howler monkeys in Venezuela, July 5-30, 1975. Entries are dated. The first several entries describe travel, work completed, and observations of wildlife enroute. Later entries follow a general format and focus on observations of howler monkeys. Details include date, time of observation, location, quantity, sex, age, diet, and behavior. Behaviors are often listed with time of day. Entries also sometimes include lists of birds seen (common name), reptiles seen, types of tracks, and behavior of animals in the vicinity. Sometimes includes information about vegetation, including measurements of trees. There are several loose inserts: a photograph of John and Mrs. Heilman; list of "jungle journeys with Canaima Tours," and notes for April 14-21, 1973.
