Abstract

The field book documents Frank C. Whitmore's field work during 1975-1986. Most pages are numbered (1 - 53). Entries are dated and narrative in style. They cover a variety of details: some describe visits to sites where specimens have been reported being seen, travel details, expenses, individuals with whom worked, specimens collected from a variety of mammals, note on recommendations from local inhabitants about collecting sites, sections with layer descriptions and measurements, descriptions of Emlong specimens, sketches of prints at location unidentified due to handwriting, and museums visited. Locality information for trips, collecting, and work varies in specificity. There are notes on auger and core holes from site at Landover, Maryland. Locations include sites across Maryland (Landover, Scientist's Cliff, Pope's Creek), (possibly) North Carolina, and (Westmoreland State Park) Virginia.|Includes inserts with contact information, description of specimen site, business card, and copy of section of Maryland area cliff.
