Abstract

The field book documents Remington Kellogg's field work in Maryland for the US Biological Survey during the summers of 1939 to 1941. Entries are dated and include travel details (mileage, destinations, mode of travel, time of day), descriptions of specimens and location where found, photographs taken, and geological sections with notes on presence of fossils. Location information includes zone number, description of layer composition, distance from landmarks (geological). Names other collectors. Most specimens are marine mammals. Includes a loose insert with lists of terms, sections for locations in Maryland (Patuxent, Chesapeake Beach, Plum Point, Calvert Cliffs), and notes on Fauna found in zone 10.
