PrintThe black-and-white photographs document field work on Washington Island [Teraina] in Kiribati for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program, March 30-31, 1964. There are captions on the reverse side of images that list location, date range, description, and photographer (R. Clapp). Subject matter covers local inhabitants on parrot hunt, birds (Great Frigatebird), Gilbertese huts, C. D. Hackman insect collecting (with a list of insects found), administrative buildings, copra-drying sheds, vegetation (pandanas, ferns), island trails, and forest.
