Abstract

The field book documents Harrison G. Dyar's field work and rearing of sawflies, 1897 - 1902. Entries are headed with alpha-numeric identifiers followed with a combination of information: type, host plant, environment where found, location, date, followed by descriptions of physical appearance during stages of development. Descriptions cover specifics of anatomy, color, texture, measurements (sometimes listed in tables). Descriptions are often listed per date or stage. Includes sketches. Locations include New Brunswick, New Jersey; Plattsburgh, Bellfort(?), and Long Island, New York; Rosslyn, Virginia; District of Columbia; Cabin John, Maryland.
