Abstract

The field book documents collecting rearing of sawflies by Harrison G. Dyar, 1894 - 1896. Entries are headed with an assigned identifier and include a combination of information such as type, host plant, location, date, followed by physical descriptions per stage of development. Descriptions cover details about anatomy, color, texture, measurements (sometimes in a series headed with "calc" and "found"). Some include sketches. In the center of the volume is a "general index to spring 1895 (including the first two seasons' collecting)." The index lists index, letter, bred, name and authority.
