Abstract

The field book documents collecting and rearing of sawflies by Harrison G. Dyar, 1893 - 1896. Entries are headed with an assigned identifier. Each entry begins with information (a combination of): type, host plant, location, date, followed by descriptions of physical appearance listed per stage of development. Descriptions include details about anatomy, color, texture, measurements (sometimes a series headed with "calc." and "found"). Some entries include sketches. There are two indexes listing physical characteristics of specimens and corresponding letter. Locations include Woods Hole, Massachusetts; Plattsburgh, Central Park, New York; Weehawken, New Jersey.
