Abstract

The field book documents the collecting and observations of sawflies by Harrison G. Dyar, 1891 - 1897. Entries are headed with an assigned letter. Each entry information varies, but includes a combination of type, sex, host plant type, location collected, month and year collected. This information is then followed with detailed descriptions of physical appearance of anatomy at various stages of development. These list color, texture, size (measurements, sometimes in a series headed with "calc." and "found"), and sometimes include sketches. This information is sometimes listed per date. Locations include Yosemite, California; Portland, Oregon; Franklin Park (state unidentified); Woods Hole, Massachusetts; Van Cortlandt Park, New York.
