Abstract

These original photographs mounted on board and with captions pertain to Stejneger's extensive study of the fur seals of the North Pacific-Bering Sea area. The photographs show rookeries, seal drivers and driving, and other images taken in Robben Island, Saranna (Bering Island, officially called Ostrov Beringa) and locations in Copper Island (officially Ostrov Mednyy) including Zapadni (Glinka) and Popofski. Some or all of these images may be published. Many of the photographs are dated August 1895. Contains some prints of drawings made from photographs taken by other photographers.
