Abstract

The notebook documents William Dunlop Brackenridge's botanical collecting efforts in the Samoa Islands during United States Exploring Expedition Collection, 1838-1842. The notebook are a list of observed plants across the Samoa Islands. May include collected specimens. Details include name of the plant, physical description, location found, sometimes information about terrain (i.e. hills, ravine, mountains), and whether an introduced species. There are several mentions of plants present were the same as Tahiti. Locations mentioned included Tutuila.
