Abstract

This item consists of the photocopied field notes of Robert S. Standen from his work with the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey in 1965. Field notes document Staden's activities observing, banding, and collecting birds in various Pacific island locations. Included is a catalog of black and white photographs that include roll and frame numbers along with locations and captions. Drafts of island descriptions (including assessments of the islands' topography, climate, and vegetation) are present for: Caroline Atoll, Christmas Island, Enderbury Island, Fanning Island [Tabuaeran], Howland Island, Hull Atoll, Phoenix Island, Starbuck Island, Tongareva Atoll, and Vostrok Island.
