Abstract

Black and white photographs document terrain and wildlife on Jarvis Island, 1936, 1938, 1940, 1948 and undated. Images have captions on the reverse side; information varies, sometimes listing negative, location, dated, expedition information, photographer. Subject matter show beaches, individual and groups of birds in habitat (type listed), wreck of the vessel Amaranth, interior terrain, structures, chickens being transferred to Jarvis Island. Photograph sources include Department of Interior, US Navy Bureau of Aeronautics, and US Coast Guard.
