Abstract

Black-and-white photographs document field work on Enderbury Island, 1937-1938, 1940, 1949. There are captions on the reverse side of images and include negative number. Photographs appear to come from several sources: Bernice P. Bishop Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii; others list P. Woodward, US Department of Interior, Smithsonian Institution, National Geographic Society, and US Coast Guard. Subject matter shows terrain inland and coastline, structures, birds in habitat, campsites of US Laney, old guano worker's camp (1938), old cannon, interior vegetation, images from 13th cruise (Dept of Interior), island daybeacon with Daniel R. Lopez and Harry L. Fewster (1949), and group photograph with identified individuals, and old living quarters.
