Abstract

This field book consists of the field notes of Joseph Nelson Rose, and is divided into three sections. The first section covers plants collected in Mexico in 1897. Entries list collector numbers (1913 through 2640); scientific name or common name; location; and date. Locations include Territorio de Tepic (Nayarit], states of Durango, Zacatecas, and Jalisco. The second section of the book includes a list of plants collected by Rose in Mexico in 1897. Entries in this section list collector numbers (2601 through 3425); scientific name; location; and date. Locations are across the state of Jalisco. The third section covers plants collected from 1897 to 1899 in Mexico and the United States. Entries list collector numbers (2426 through 4200); scientific name; location; and date. Locations include Sierra Madre, states of Zacatecas and Jalisco. Collector numbers 400 - 4200 include scientific name; location; sometimes collector or preparator information; and date. Locations include District of Columbia, Greenhouse of the US Department of Agriculture, and Missouri Botanical Garden.
