Abstract

The item is primarily comprised of a list of specimens collected by Joseph A. Ewan in Colombia and Ecuador in 1944 and 1945. The specimen lists cover specimen no. 15571-16962 and typically include scientific name, place of collection, growing conditions at the place of collection, elevation measurements, color, and height of specimen. The item also includes related correspondence between Whittier Pennel and W. Andrew Archer. There is also a hand written note from J. Ewan regarding naming specimens dated October through December 1948 and various other correspondence regarding naming of specimen between Francis W. Pennell and W. Andrew Archer.
