Abstract

The notebook documents field work conducted by Roger Clapp on Canton Island [Kanton], April 14 - 18, 1971. Pages are numbered (1 - 23). The volume begins with bird counts, as well as a summary of some of the work already completed on the island in February. Subsequent entries are dated and include a variety of information. Some contain contact information, observations of birds and other wildlife over a range of hours, bird banding completed, and miscellaneous notes. It appears a portion of the notebook that has a list of plants (binomial) and their locations may not relate to other contents. Page numbering skips this section. There are also short notes providing details about camp sites, itinerary, and specimen collecting (including plants). There are also a lists of information on recaptures and calculations relating to bird banding. A portion of the notebook is blank. Locations also include Hull Island [Orona] and Enderbury Atoll.
