Abstract

The catalog documents collecting completed for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Project, 1964-1968. There are tabs dividing the notebook into sections, arranged by name of preparator (Pete Maslowski, J. Reese, and J. E. Gordon). Entries are numbered and vary in content. Most include a combination of field number, type (common or scientific name), sex, possibly date prepared, measurements, possibly date collected, and location information (island name, sometimes vicinity to landmark). Some entries describe specimen preparation, weight and size of organs, stomach contents, anatomy, and collector. There are loose inserts that include notes with bird band numbers and correspondence. Locations include the islands of Makin Atoll [Butaritari Atoll], Johnston, Sand, and some not identified.
