Abstract

This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, on the Eastern Area Cruise 32, aboard the USS Tioga County, 1967. Materials include: surface weather observations, bird observation data sheets, and fix data sheets. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., specimen or band no., and remarks. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, feeding, calling, etc.). Fix data sheets include: ship, date, sunrise (time, lat., long.) sunset (time, lat., long.), total miles traveled, position (time, lat., long), and course or speed change. Synoptic observations include: day, position of ship, time, total cloud amt., wind, visibility, weather, pressure, air temp., clouds, course of ship, speed of ship, 3-hour pressure tendency, significant cloud, air sea diff., sea waves, swell waves, and other information. Also included is a typed preliminary report.
