Abstract

This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, on the Southern California Coastal Survey aboard the USS Henderson, December 1966. Materials include: fix data, bird observation sheets (At Sea Daily Log E), and ship weather observation sheets. Fix data sheets include date, time and position data, distance data, time of fix, type of fix, longitude, latitude, wind dir., wind sp., wave dir., wave hgt. Ship weather observation sheets include: vessel, location, date, time, winds, visibility, barometer, temperature, clouds, sea water temp., sea waves, and swell waves. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., hgt., and remarks. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, feeding, calling, etc.). Additional bird data observation forms include species observed, quantity observed, and remarks. Also includes photocopied preliminary report.
