Abstract

This item consists of the photocopied field notes of Richard L. Maze from his work with the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey in 1965 and 1966. The notes reflect on Maze's experiences observing, banding, skinning, collecting, and taking blood samples from sea birds in American Samoa, Hawaii, and Christmas Island. It also mentions observing and marking hermit crabs. Maze describes a beached porpoise and includes a drawing of it. A hand drawn map of one of the islands can be found among the notes.
