Abstract

The dictabelt is a recording of Helmut Buechner's field notes for work completed in the Semliki Game Reserve, Uganda, June 16 - 20, 1959. He includes date followed by narratives of work completed. He details a wide range of information. These include daily activities, routes traveled with time of day, preparations for fieldwork, photographs taken (with settings), film shot (equipment used), detailed wildlife observations, colleagues and staff, information collected during animal tagging (with use of tranquilizer), and locations where observed. Observed behaviors include the territorial actions of kob, interactions between sexes, direct and indirect evidence of behaviors. Some observations begin with time of day and list details about individual kob's interactions, noting age and sex.
