Abstract

This item measures roughly 5 inches in length. 3 pages of content. Included is a sketched map labeled Matawan Mts, presumably in Matawan, New Jersey, and half page of miscellaneous field notes with a sketch. The identification of the sketch is "gonotus", a type of crustacean. The abbreviations "NY" possibly indicate the specimen was collected in New York. The abbreviation "N.G.", found in many of Rafinesques' books in this collection, likely stand for "New Genus". The first page includes what seems like a list of names, one of which looks like "W. A. Wharton". Undated.
