Abstract

The 3 notebooks document Helmut Buechner's field work on Ibex in Switzerland, 1961. The first notebook covers June 18 - August 15, 1961. Entries are dated and describe daily work, colleagues with whom met, research questions, citations for texts, contacts and addresses, wildlife observations (time of day, type, quantity, sex, age, behavior, elevation), birds observed. Some entries include measurements and weight of individual ibex as well as data on anatomy. The second notebook covers August 16 - September 2, 1961 and includes same type of information. The third notebook (September 7 - 8, 1961) includes similar details as well as sketches of ibex locations, equipment, and to-do lists. Locations include Augstmatthorn.
