Abstract

The papers include field notes, journal, and vegetation observation sheets documenting Helmut Buechner's work, 1951. Journal entries (July 1 -28, 1951) are dated and include travel details, daily activities, colleagues, field work completed (descriptions of transects, vegetation types, and abundance), weather, wildlife observations (quantity, time of day, age, behavior). Field notes (September 11 - 12, 1951) document Mill Creek Watershed (Washington) at transect I.P. No 2 on Trail Ridge looking at north facing slopes; Bull Ridge. They are a detailed narrative describing vegetation, terrain, observed birds and mammals (time of day, number, type, sex). There are typed notes on sizes of plots (production data, coverage data, types). Locations include sites in Oregon.
