Abstract

The papers document Helmut Buechner's observations in Sun River country, Lewis and Clark National Forest, Augusta, Montana, December 20 -26, 1954; locations during March, April, and October 1954. Notes from April 1954 include dated entries discussing travel details (time of day), observed birds (times of day, quantity, type, sex), and notes on vegetation in numbered zones. Location is not clear. October and March 1954 notes include the same information and also temperature. One set identifies a location at Schweitze ridge.|Notes for December 20 - 26, 1954 contain weather data (temperature, precipitation, wind direction, wind velocity, nebulosity, ground conditions, changes during day), observations of wildlife (time of day, numbers, composition of herd, sex, age, abundance, behaviors including feeding), terrain, names of colleagues, and vegetation.
