This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, 1966 on the Miscellaneous Pelagic Cruise No. 5, aboard the U.S.C.G.C. Basswood. The cruise began in Honolulu, Hawaii and ended in Guam. The cruise visited localities in the Marshall Islands including: Majuro Atoll, Kwajalein Atoll, and Eniwetok [Enewetak] Atoll. Materials include: bird observation sheets, fix data sheets, and climatological data sheets. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., hgt., remarks, and noon position. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, feeding, etc.). Additional bird observation data include counts for: total flocks, feeding flocks, traveling flocks, total birds, and bird counts by species. Fix data sheets include date, time and position data, distance data, time of fix, type of fix, longitude, and latitude. Climatological data includes time, lat., long., pres wea, vis, slp, dry b, wet b, dew pt, hum%, tl sky, opa sky, waves, sea temp, wind s, wind d, course, speed. Also included is a typed report.
