Abstract

The field notes, correspondence, and photographs document Helmut Buechner's observations of bighorn sheep in Colorado as part of the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep Surveys / Bighorn Sheep Study, 1955. Materials include copied sections of reference texts; tables of information (herd no., forest, name of herd, estimated number, range, and remarks); progress reports; typed portions of field notes discussing observations of herds (population characteristics) and locations; hand written tables with location, date, community, page number, that list notes on terrain and vegetation; map with notes on field work by the Buffalo Peaks; reports; and photographs of herds in mountainous terrain as well as sheep traps (1950, 1951).
