PrintLantern slides document the field work of Arthur Sowerby during the hunting expeditions in China (undated). Some slides are numbered, and some have a basic caption written on four flap wrappers. Subject matter includes a man by tent near water, wagon overturned in mud, mammal specimens (leopard, ram), fish specimens, live birds, men with collected specimens, vegetation (ferns), log barges, vistas of terrain (mountains, woods, shorelines and waterways), group portraits (local family, unidentified group of men), portrait of Sowerby with shot birds and mammals as well as with with a hunting party.
