Abstract

This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, 1964, on the Northern Grid Survey 11. The Northern Grid Survey was conducted of a square section of the Pacific Ocean. The route of the ship was from the grid area to French Frigate Shoals, Leeward Islands to Oahu (Hawaii). Materials include bird observation data, fix data sheets, graphs, and weather and barometric data. Bird observations data sheets include entries for time, species, #, dir., hgt., and remarks. Other handwritten bird observations record group name, species, number (total), sightings, birds per sighting, birds per mile. Fix data sheets include entries for date, time, sunset time, position sunset, time of fix, type of fix, longitude, and latitude. Data charts include graphs that map quantity of birds observed by date; temperature, humidity, and wind speed by date, and dot map of bird population in the grid. Also included is a typed progress report.
