Abstract

The notebook documents geological fieldwork completed by August Foerste in Massachusetts and Rhode Island (undated). Pages are numbered. Begins with notes of times of high tides. Entries are headed with location information indicated with a combination of geological and other landmarks, towns, and distance from. These are followed by details about terrain and geological formations (age of layer, type of stone, characteristics and color). Includes geological sections and some hand drawn maps of surveyed sites. Entries are written from the front and the back of the notebook.
