Abstract

Original logbook of the Fish Hawk, station numbers 770-814, 6 to 18 August 1880. Data recorded include station number (no.), date, hour, position, locality, depth, bottom, sample, wind (direction and force), sea, sky, temperatures (depth, thermometer make and no., reading, stem temp., correction, corrected temp., w. sample, bottle used), currents (depth, hour, tide, time down, revolutions, speed, direction), color of water, transparency, remarks, nets used (description, depth, time, speed), and notes. Observer is F. C. Vanvlit, MD. Locality: Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island.
