Abstract

The notebook documents geological fieldwork completed by August Foerste for the Kentucky Geological Survey (undated). Pages are numbered. Entries are headed with location, identified by a combination of distance from, geological or other type of landmark, and name of owner. They include geological descriptions with layer composition, color and type of stone, geological age, as well as geological sections and sketches of strata and some of fossils. There are loose inserts used to divide the notebook.
