Abstract

The notebook documents geological fieldwork completed of August Foerste in Kentucky, 1905 - 1907. Entries include numbered descriptions of geological samples. Others include location information (combination of town, geological landmark (e.g. name of creek) and geological sections. Sections detail measurements, type and color of stone, and soil composition. Some entries have a list of numbered locations, usually defined by distance from town or landmark; hand drawn maps of surveyed locations; descriptions of specimens; and text for plates.
