Abstract

The specimen notebook documents geological survey field work of August Foerste in Ohio, 1887-1888. Folder title in finding aid indicates that it includes a copy of a letter from Leo Lesquereux to Edward Orton, 1886. Pages are numbered. Includes bookmarks denoting sections. The first section includes illustrations and descriptions of specimens including composition of surrounding terrain where found. Other sections include hand drawn maps and description of sites observed. Includes a section of candy recipes. References geological observations in New York State. A portion of the notebook is blank.
