Abstract

Original logbook of the Grampus, 8 July to 20 August 1913, station record numbers 10057 to 10106. Data recorded include station no., date, time of day, time of tide, locality, exact position, depth, nature of bottom, dredging instrument used, direction of drift, distance, temperature of air, term. no., temperature of surface water, temperature at depth of no. fathoms, temperature at bottom, density at surface, density at depth of no. fathoms, density at bottom, number of salinometer, barometer reading, state of sky, direction of wind, force, rain, direction of surface current, force, direction of bottom current, force, name of vessel, service to which attached, name and rank of commanding officer, name and position of observer, and notes relating to station. The notes include "quant net", "hel net", color, and other remarks. Localities include waters off of Cape Cod (MA), Newport (RI), Cape May (NJ), Chatham (?), Sable (?), Glaucester (MA), and others.
