Abstract

Original logbook of the Fish Hawk covers August 1 - September 2, 1914, station record numbers 8197 to 8245. Logbook includes fields for station number, date, hour, position (latitude and longitude), locality, depth, bottom, sample, wind (direction, force), sea, sky, temperatures (depth, thermometer, reading, stem temp, correction, correction temp, w. sample, bottle used), current (depth, hour, tide, time down, revolutions, speed, direction), color of water, transparency, remarks, nets used etc. (description, depth, time down, time up, speed) and notes. Data is not filled in for temperatures or currents. Remarks include course (sometimes with notes on speed, time, and condition of water), and notes on nets. Locality: Beaufort and Bear Inlet in North Carolina and Gulf Stream.
