Abstract

Original logbook of the Fish Hawk covers March 24 - May 2, 1914, station record numbers 8126 to 8145. These include data relating to temperature and density recorded during dredging. Data recorded includes date, time of day, tide, locality, exact location (latitude and longitude), depth, nature of bottom, dredging instrument used, direction of drift, distance, temperature (of air, surface water, bottom), density of surface and bottom, number of salinometer, barometer reading, state of sky, direction of wind, name of observer, and position of observer. Some fields do not contain data, including salinometer, water temperatures, density of water, and direction of current. Position of observer is listed with latitude and longitude or chart number, and has notes on water samples. Observer is not listed. There are sometimes notes on the verso of the page. Locality: Maryland including Sandy Point, Bloody Point, Tilghman Island, Hooper Island Light.
