Abstract

Original logbook of the Fish Hawk covers August 25 - September 22, 1913, station record numbers 7928 to 7977. These include data relating to temperature and density recorded during dredging. Data recorded includes date, time of day, tide, locality, exact location (latitude and longitude), depth, nature of bottom, dredging instrument used, direction of drift, distance, temperature (of air, surface water, bottom), density of surface and bottom, number of salinometer, barometer reading, state of sky, direction of wind, name of observer, and position of observer. Some fields do not contain data, including density, salinity, or direction of current. Position of observer is indicated with latitude and longitude. Notes on verso document times when nets were put over and hauled. Observer was not listed. Locality: coast of North Carolina, including Beaufort Harbor and Cape Fear.
