Abstract

Original logbook of the Fish Hawk, 25 October to 9 December 1915, station record numbers 8350-8398. Data recorded include station no., date, hour, position (lat. and long.), locality, depth, bottom, wind direction, wind force, sea, sky, temperatures, currents, "nets, etc., used", and notes. Notes include remarks on course, dredging, and other notes. Localities are off the coast of Maryland and Virginia, including: Hooper Island, Tilghman Island, Sandy Point, Cape Henry, Sharpe's Island, and others. A fold-out chart is included for 17 December 1915 entry (station 8394). The chart includes current meter readings that include series, depth in meters, time, time period, revolutions, "pockets in which are most shot". Another chart records: depth (meters), series, no of thermom., reading.
