Abstract

The photograph album documents the first three years of Paricutin Volcano and its activity, February 24, 1943 - March 20, 1945, taken by Ezequiel Ordonez. Photographs are numbered and have extensive descriptions. Some photographs are missing from their original positions. Subject matter includes distance and close-up images of the volcano and its ongoing eruptions, the crater, and cone; examples of types of cloud emissions; lava flows; examples of bombs; Zapicho flow; nearby communities and their damage; Hornitos; San Juan; structures, including the San Juan cathedral, consumed by flows; aircraft used; and surrounding vegetation and subsequent damage.
