Abstract

Original logbook of the Fish Hawk covers August 8 - 22, 1905, station record numbers 7724 to 7766. These include data relating to temperature and density recorded during dredging. Data recorded includes date, time of day, tide, locality, exact location (latitude and longitude), depth, nature of bottom, dredging instrument used, direction of drift, distance, temperature (of air, surface water, bottom), density of surface and bottom, number of salinometer, barometer reading, state of sky, direction of wind, name of observer, and sometimes position of observer. Includes notes on the reverse side of page listing type of marine life found and notes on abundance. Observer was not clearly recorded. Locality: Vineyard Sound in Massachusetts.
