Abstract

Original logbook of the Fish Hawk covers July 17 - August 4, 1905, station record numbers 7676 to 7723. These include data relating to temperature and density recorded during dredging. Data recorded includes date, time of day, tide, locality, exact location, depth, nature of bottom, dredging instrument used, direction of drift, distance, temperature (of air, surface water, bottom), density of surface and bottom, number of salinometer, barometer reading, state of sky, direction of wind, name of observer, and sometimes position of observer. Includes notes on the reverse side of page listing type of marine life found and notes on abundance. Observer was Vernon E. West. Locality: Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts.
