Abstract

Black and white photographs document Paricutin Volcano during January 4 - June 22, 1944, taken by Jenaro Gonzalez. Captions include date, location, descriptions, and photographer. Subject matter includes candid images of colleagues and local inhabitants; Zapicho flow; San Juan cathedral; encroaching lava flows and smoking structures; Hornito; nighttime and daytime emanating smoke and eruptions of the volcano; examples of types of lava; damage to surrounding woods; and detail images of crater and cone. Includes several panoramas and enlargements.
