Abstract

The correspondence between O. L. Cartwright and Charles W. Griffin relates to his insect collecting in southern Texas, 1969 - 1970. Correspondence covers personal and professional exchanges, specimen collecting, shipments, and determinations. Specimen collecting was often completed around neotoma nests. Details on beetles include a combination type, weather, characteristics, presence of larvae, bait (type of dung), habitat (soil composition, moisture content), collecting method, and location (road, town, distance from, county, state). There are also details about collected neotoma, some including measurements, weight, characteristics like appearance and presence of ectoparasites. Sometimes insect descriptions are in lists.
