Abstract

The black and white photographs are of Paricutín Volcano, June - July 1943, May 27 - July 31, 1945, and April 1950. Includes image numbers F285g - F319. Images from 1945 were taken by William Foshag. Images from 1943 and 1950 were taken by Carl Fries, Jr, of the United States Geological Survey and made from Kodachrome. Subject matter includes images of the volcanic cone; the crater; examples of emanating smoke columns and ash; portrait of Felipe Cuara Amezcua; lava from the end of the fumarole rack; inhabitants amidst the damaged structures in town; Aguan flow; and Hornitos area. Includes duplicates.
