Abstract

The color slides were taken by various individuals to document field work completed as part of the Smithsonian Institution African Mammal Project during 1967 and 1969. Slides are organized in small boxes, and labeled with location. Several boxes have notes indicating images were taken for H. W. Setzer. Captions vary in content, including a combination of date, location (town, geological landmark), and image number. Locations include Ivory Coast [Côte d'Ivoire] (1969); Ghana (1967, 1969); and Upper Volta [Burkina Faso] (1969). Subject matter covers habitat, local inhabitants, participants, specimens, flora and fauna, and botanical gardens. Photographers include Bruce Hayward and Richard Vaden.
